Joe Hoeffel Picks up Two More Endorsements from Western Pa.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Democrat Joe Hoeffel, candidate for governor of Pennsylvania, has picked up two new endorsements from Southwestern Pennsylvania, demonstrating that momentum is builidng statewide for his candidacy. Last week, the 4th Congressional District chapter of the Progressive Democrats of America announced their unanimous decision to endorse Hoeffel. He picked up the vote from Pittsburgh’s 14th Ward Independent Democratic Club yesterday.
The 4th CD Progressive Democrats of America Chapter, centered in Beaver County, sent an announcement of their decision to members in a letter from Tina Shannon, pointing out his positions on numerous issues important to the region, including the fact that “Joe has called for safe drilling practices in the Marcellus Shale and a gas extraction tax.”
Yesterday, Pittsburgh’s 14th Ward Independent Democratic Club held their endorsement vote, where Joe Hoeffel earned the club’s endorsement. The 14th ward has over 18,000 registered Democrats, making the largest ward in the City of Pittsburgh and the second largest in the state. The organization is the oldest independent Democratic club in the country. Club president Chris Zurawsky said, “Joe Hoeffel’s strong support for environmental protection, women’s rights, and equality for everyone resonate with our club’s membership and will help him to earn a good deal of support in Pittsburgh’s 14th ward on Election Day.”
“I am pleased to pick up two more endorsements in Southwestern Pennsylvania,” Joe Hoeffel said. “Throughout the campaign, I have talked about finding the progressive center of the Democratic party and proposed programs that are fiscally responsible. This is a message that voters statewide are supporting, and I’m glad to have earned the support of two more organizations who will help me get that message out.”
