In the first debate of the Democratic candidates for PA Governor in Harrisburg, Joe Hoeffel was the only candidate supporting single payer healthcare. Hoeffel is Montgomery County Commissioner, former US Congressman, and the 2004 Democratic candidate for US Senate against Republican Arlen Specter.

He says he’ll make the insurance companies “cover our citizens.” That’s not single payer. With single payer there won’t be any insurance companies. We’re still waiting for Joe Hoeffel to come out for single payer loud and clear. His own county would save more than $10,000,000 with single payer. Walter Ebmeyer, Montgomery County.

Joe Hoeffel stated unequivocally at the debate in Harrisburg at the PA Progressive summit that he supports a single payer solution to our health care crisis. He also said he would sign such a bill.
I believe him based on his record.
